BISCUIT RECIPE FOR GINGERBREAD HOUSES

INGREDIENTS:

50 g. butter

175 g. brown sugar

175 g. molasses

1 ½  teaspoon cinnamon

1 ½  teaspoon ginger

1 pinch of salt

125 g. milk

1 tablespoon baking powder

875 g. flour

IMPLEMENTATION:

In a saucepan, add butter, sugar, molasses, cinnamon, ginger, salt and stir over low heat till sugar is dissolved (for about 10 minutes).

Sift the flour with the baking powder and place it in a large bowl. Add milk and, using an electric mixer, blend it, gently in the beginning and then at medium speed until the dough is smooth.

Let the dough wrapped in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.

ICING RECIPE – BISCUIT DECORATION

INGREDIENTS:

2 glairs (from big eggs)

4 cups of caster sugar

Juice from one lemon

Just a little pastry color

IMPLEMENTATION:

Beat the glairs in a mixer till they become white, but not too tight. Add caster sugar and lemon juice, initially beat at low speed and then at higher speed until the mixture tightens well, approximately for 5 minutes.  In case you wish to put color to your creation, add a small amount of food coloring.
